The European ALARA Network
The European ALARA Network (EAN) promotes the optimisation of radiation protection (keeping exposures As Low As Reasonably Achievable – ALARA) across Europe. It brings together professionals, regulators, and stakeholders to share experience, develop guidance, and support the practical implementation of ALARA principles in various sectors, including industry, medicine, research, and the environment.

For the first time, EAN publishes a Special Issue of the ALARA Newsletter. This Issue is specifically dedicated to the 12th EAN Workshop on "ALARA issues arising for Safety and Security of Radiation Sources and Security Screening Devices", which was held in Vienna (Austria) in October 2009.

This Newsletter includes all the abstracts/full papers, which were presented, as well as the summary and recommendations of the Workshop. The PPT files of the oral presentations and the reports from the different Working Groups are available on the webpage dedicated to the 12th Workshop.
