The European ALARA Network - EAN
The European ALARA Network (EAN) promotes the optimisation of radiation protection (keeping exposures As Low As Reasonably Achievable – ALARA) across Europe. It brings together professionals, regulators, and stakeholders to share experience, develop guidance, and support the practical implementation of ALARA principles in various sectors, including industry, medicine, research, and the environment.

This project aims at establishing a sustainable European Medical ALARA Network (EMAN) where different stakeholders within the medical sector will have the opportunity to discuss and to exchange information on different topics related to the implementation of the ALARA principle in the medical field. In particular, the project includes the setup of three working group to discuss the following specific topics: “optimisation of patient and occupational exposures in CT-procedures”; “optimization of patient and occupational exposure in interventional radiology”; “radiological safety for patients and personnel un activities using X-ray equipment outside the X-ray departments”.
